Citizenship Day 7
After reciting the Rotary Four Way Test, have students participate in the following exercise that focuses on the social skills relating to Citizenship.
"Model" Citizens
Directions:
Get 10 volunteers from the students. Secretly assign each student a "citizen" within the community. The student then starts talking about what that citizen does, without saying the name of them, and the class has to guess. For example: The citizen assigned is a doctor. The student can say that they help heal people, they take care of sick people, etc. 10 citizens are given, but please feel free to use your own too.
1. Policeman 2. Firefighter 3. Doctor 4. Pilot 5. Ambulance driver
6. Judge 7. Lawyer 8. Nurse 9. Taxi driver 10. Lifeguard
After all 10 have been guessed, ask the following questions:
1. Did you have a hard time guessing the citizen? Why?
2. What makes them good citizens?
3. How can everyone be good citizens?
